Many Tapaculo species are small, dark, birds from the shadow realm able to evaporate and then reappear fifteen feet in any direction. Even while calling, they navigate the faintest of cover to avoid camera lenses. Truly one of the most fun, and at times difficult, groups of birds to photograph. Many species are only recently described and have few photos.
